Performer Refutes Anti-Vaccine Stance After Lending His Voice To Contentious Covid Documentary
Liam Neeson has provided his voice to a feature-length documentary that questions the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises one-time health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication written by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the health crisis for claims that the illness was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The publication's collaborator, the executive producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. He took to social media hailing Neeson's involvement in the project.
A Firm Denial
A spokesperson for Neeson have provided a response strongly denying suggestions that he subscribes to anti-immunization beliefs.
"Everyone can understand that unethical practices may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be confused with opposition to vaccines," the response reads. "Liam has never been, and cannot be described as, anti-vaccination. His long work with the global charity underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response added that the star did not shape the project's narrative and that concerns about its claims ought to go to the creators.
Key Assertions In the Film
In the film, the voiceover read by Neeson makes several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It argues that "science has become deeply politicised."
- RFK Jr is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- The film takes aim at stay-at-home orders, saying they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it references a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Controversy and Current Issues
It further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is also referenced in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Position of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has previously shown strong support for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," noting that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
The film ends with Neeson's script stating, "This is not the end of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
